Helping Others Pursue excellence
HOPE, Inc. is a certified non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization established in 1994 to deal with the issue of homelessness in the region. The initial focus for HOPE, Inc. was to provide transitional housing for ex-offenders. HOPE, Inc. began developing relationships with persons about to be released from Prince George's County Detention Center. Upon their release, the clients were permitted to stay in the transitional home for a period of 6 months rent free. During the 6 month period, the clients were assisted by mentors with employment, budgeting, saving and other services.
Currently, HOPE, Inc. focuses exclusively on homelessness. Our mission is to Help Others Pursue Excellence by providing a stable foundation for the homeless, including housing, educational support, counseling, and training. We improve the quality of life for homeless citizens by providing clients with stable housing for at least one year. During this time, clients are provided mentoring in areas such as budgeting, maintaining employment, and understanding the issues that contributed to their circumstance of homelessness. Over the past 15 years, HOPE, Inc. has successfully helped more than 30 individuals transition from homelessness to permanent housing.
